Venice 2013
Jan 10, 2013
Dear Friends,
I hope 2013 is bringing you all you hoped for....at least so far!
Thanks so much to all of you for the overwhelming response to our new CD/DVD, "A Venice Christmas - Live." We're very proud of this release, and we're so thrilled to hear that you like it too! If any of you still need to pick this title up, we have copies available. You can order this, or any other Venice CD or DVD, at www.venicestore.macwebsitebuilder.com.
We're still reeling from last month's SOLD OUT Christmas shows, but now that the holidays are behind us, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work. And we couldn't be more excited to head back into writing mode, preparing for our new Venice studio album, which we're hoping to release this Summer, 2013.
During this writing period, we'll continue to do some shows along the way, to try out some of the new material, and also to keep that incredible connection with you guys that fuels our creative juices. The first shows we're pleased to announce are acoustic ones:
AMSD - Acoustic Music San Diego
Friday, February 22, 2013, and Saturday, February 23, 2013
AMSD is a very cool little wooden church in Normal Heights, San Diego county, where we do an intimate and often improvisational acoustic show, featuring the four Lennons, Mark Harris on bass and Rich Mangicaro on percussion. We plan to debut some new tunes here, and also play some of your Venice favorites.....as always. Head here for tickets: www.amsdconcerts.com/February.html
Looking ahead, this year we'll celebrate our tenth anniversary staging Artists For the Arts Foundation concerts, and we're excited to announce that this special anniversary show will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013. We don't have any headliners confirmed yet, but each one of these shows has been more incredible than the last, so we want to make sure that everyone has enough time to plan their schedules, make their travel plans, etc. For those of you who don't already know, Kipp and I are proud cofounders of the AFTA foundation, and once a year we put together a three hour concert featuring Venice, a full student orchestra, choir and horn section, and several big name artists such as Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Billy Idol and Michael McDonald, for an evening of music that raises money to create or sustain arts education in our public schools. So please mark your calendars and plan to join us on May 18. Keep an eye on Venice Central and on our Facebook page for updates. In the meantime, you can enjoy a few moments from past shows over here: www.aftafoundation.org/videos.html
Speaking of Facebook, we're approaching 8,000 friends on our Venice Facebook page. We're using Facebook more and more to connect with the fan base, and we're having a blast doing it. It's a great tool that allows us to relay quick messages about where we are and what we're up to. I've personally been getting into the fun by posting behind-the-scenes pictures and videos, uploading them straight from my phone moments after I've created them. So if you haven't joined our Facebook page yet, what are you waiting for? Head to www.facebook.com/venicetheband and click on "Like." And please help us spread the word, and get your friends and family to join us too. 8,000 likes, here we come!
Well, that's all for now. Hope to see you soon in 2013!
Gratefully yours,
Michael - Venice
